I was browsing through a series of articles on Tim Bray's poking around Ruby and found this quote:

If Lisp's audience had been harried sysadmins rather than AI researchers, it'd rule the world by now.

(I'm a Lisp idiot, so it may be that that only sounds clever, but it struck a chord anyway).
