PragDave once related a story about he and /\ndy assisting a client who'd requested some custom workflow software. After doing some analysis with their current paper-based workflow, they asked them if merely color coding the envelopes used to port around the paperwork would help them. Turned out it would and that piece of software was complete before it was started. I've always loved that story as a great example of how to ServeTheUser.
